چکیده

Comparative studies wore made on cardiac actomyosin from normal dog's and .from dogs with experimental heart failure. Actomyosin was characterized by ultracentrifugal sedimentation velocity, viscosity and ATP-ase measurements. The data on actomyosin from normal cardiac muscle showed a striking' similarity to the findings reported by others for skeletal muscle actomyosin. The only difference found between cardiac actomyosin from the normal and experimental material was an abnormal component (SJOW = 5.0-6.7) iu the sedimentation pattern for actomyosin from 4 of 11 dog's with cardiac failure. It seems likely that the changes in actomyosin which resulted in the abnormal sedimentation pattern were produced duringextraction or preparation of the actomyosin and that they do not reflect an altered state of actomyosin in the functioning heart. The explanation for the occurrence of this slow sedimentation component solely in the experimental material is not clear.

Composition and state of protein in heart muscle of normal dogs and dogs with experimental myocardial failure.

In comparing protein composition of cardiac muscle of normal dogs and dogs with experimental valvular lesions and chronic heart failure, it was found that the concentration of actomyosin was lower in the experimental than in normal dogs. Furthermore, cardiac actomyosin in the experimental animals showed decreased viscosity, decreased viscosity response to ATP, and sedimentation patterns that di...

Background The aim of this study was to examine the impacts of multiple indicators of Socio-economic Status (SES) on Congestive Heart Failure (CHF) related readmission.   Methods A prospective study consisting of 315 patients without the history of admission due to CHF was carried out in Tehran during 2010 and 2011. They were classified into quartiles based on their SES applying Principal Compo...

Contractile properties of glycerolextracted muscle bundles from the chronically failing canine heart.

Chronic congestive heart failure was induced in dogs by the surgical production of tricuspid insufficiency and pulmonary stenosis. Glyeerol-extracted trabecular bundles from the right and left ventricles of these dogs developed significantly less tension than did similar preparations from the hearts of normal dogs. The maximum working capacity of the bundles from failing hearts was lower than t...

Vein of Galen Aneurysmal Malformation and High-output Cardiac Failure in a Newborn

Background: Vein of Galen aneurysm (VGA) is the most common form of symptomatic cerebrovascular malformation in neonates. It develops in a fetus in the first trimester of pregnancy due to unknown reasons, but it is likely to have a genetic etiology. The prognosis of VGA is usually poor, particularly in newborns with heart failure due to high-flow intracerebral shunt. Surgery and endovascular em...
